How Deal Rooms Work
You can create a Deal Room in one of two ways:
- From a deal room template – You can create Deal Rooms directly from reusable templates, ensuring consistency across your pipeline and team workflows. For example, a template like “Crunchy AI Pre-Sales Deal Room” might come pre-loaded with an intro video, core demo links, pricing FAQs, and a Mutual Action Plan—so setup is faster and more consistent every time.
- As a one-off – A fully custom Deal Room created from scratch for a specific opportunity or unique use case.
Once created, each Deal Room can be tailored to the opportunity by:
- Adding personalized content – Embed demos, PDFs, Google Docs, videos, and relevant links.
- Sharing with key stakeholders – Share with collaborators from both your internal team and the buyer’s side.
- Collaborating in real time – Use comments, threaded replies, and @mentions directly on Deal Room content (including assets, sections, and MAP tasks) to keep conversations in context, reduce back-and-forth, and maintain momentum.

Deal Room Comments
Deal Room Comments enable sellers and buyers to collaborate directly within the Deal Room by leaving contextual comments on specific content. Comments can be added to assets, sections, PDF pages, and Mutual Action Plan (MAP) tasks—keeping all communication in-room and tied to the exact context of the deal.
Participants can reply in threads, edit or delete their own comments, and @mention teammates or buyer stakeholders to bring the right people into the conversation at the right time. Notifications ensure updates aren’t missed as deals progress.
By centralizing deal-related communication in one shared workspace, Deal Room Comments reduce back-and-forth across email and chat tools, improve visibility for all stakeholders, and help teams move deals forward more efficiently.
Deal Room Automation
Walnut’s Rule Engine powers Deal Room Automation, enabling you to automatically create Deal Rooms when a Salesforce Opportunity or HubSpot Deal meets specific conditions. This saves your team time, ensures consistency, and delivers a seamless experience at scale.
You can define automation rules using custom Salesforce or HubSpot fields, so Deal Rooms are created the moment an Opportunity is created or updated and matches your criteria.
Once created, these Deal Rooms can still be customized for the specific opportunity — allowing you to add tailored content, updates, and resources before sharing.

FAQs
If I Change or Edit a Deal Room Template, Will It Affect Live Deal Rooms That Were Created From It?
- No. Once a Deal Room is created from a deal room template, it becomes independent. Any changes made to the template will not impact existing Deal Rooms that were created from it.
Where Can I Find Analytics for My Deal Rooms?
- You can access Deal Room insights in Walnut Insights, under the Playlists tab. If your Deal Room is connected to a Salesforce Opportunity or HubSpot Deal, session data will also surface directly within your CRM—giving you visibility into engagement right where you manage your pipeline.
Can You Connect a Deal Room to an Opportunity or Deal After It’s Been Created?
- Not at this time. To link a Deal Room with a Salesforce Opportunity or HubSpot Deal, it must be connected during the initial creation process. For step-by-step instructions, see Create a Deal Room for a Specific Opportunity or Deal.
Why Can’t I See Updates in a Deal Room?
- The Updates tab only reflects changes made by other users in the Deal Room. This includes actions such as new content being added or removed, Mutual Action Plan (MAP) tasks being added or marked as complete, and other collaborator-driven updates. Changes you make yourself will not appear in your own Updates feed.
