Change a section's type without losing its content
Switch a deal room or playlist section to a different type, such as Gallery to Carousel, and keep its text, images, and content items.
Change a section's type without losing its content
Change a section's type, for example from a Gallery to a Carousel, without deleting it and building it again. The section stays in the same place, and its content moves into the new type.

Available types
| Where | Types you can switch between |
|---|---|
| Deal rooms | Banner, Gallery, Carousel, Side-by-side, Embedded Content, Text, and Comparison table |
| Choose Your Own Adventure playlists | Gallery, Text, and Comparison table |
What happens to the content
What stays the same: the section keeps its position and its styling, including background color or gradient, rounded corners, alignment, width, and browser frame.
What changes: height and arrangement come from the new type.
Where content goes: Walnut moves texts, images, and content items into the matching slots of the new type, in order. Each type holds:
| Type | Texts | Images | Content item lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banner | 2 | 2 | — |
| Gallery / Carousel | 1 | — | 1 |
| Side-by-side | 2 | — | 1 |
| Embedded Content | — | — | 1 |
| Text | 2 | — | — |
| Comparison table | All text cells | — | — |
Content that doesn't fit is kept, not deleted. If the new type has no slot for some of the content, Walnut hides it but keeps it. Switch back to the original type and it comes back unchanged.
:::warning Buttons aren't kept Buttons in a section are removed when you change its type, and switching back doesn't restore them. Empty elements are also dropped. :::
FAQs
Can I change section types in a Sales Hub, Customer Hub, or Content Hub playlist?
No. Changing section type is available in deal rooms and Choose Your Own Adventure playlists.
I switched to Text and my demos disappeared. Are they gone?
No. A Text section has no slot for content items, so Walnut hides them. Change the section back to a type with a content item list, such as Gallery, and they reappear.
