About This Feature
A Comparison table is a Deal Room section type for side-by-side data — pricing tiers, feature matrices, us-vs-them comparisons, or a plan breakdown. Cells take formatted rich text, and you can size columns and tint columns, rows, or individual cells to draw the eye where you want it.

Quick Start Guide
1. Add the section
In the Deal Room editor, add a new section and choose Comparison table.
2. Fill in the cells
Click a cell and type. Cells accept rich text, so you can bold a plan name, add a link to a demo, or bullet a list of what's included.
Use Tab and the arrow keys to move between cells without reaching for the mouse.
3. Build out the grid
Use Add row and Add column to extend the table, or right-click a cell for precise placement:
- Insert row above / Insert row below
- Insert column left / Insert column right
- Move row up / Move row down
- Move column left / Move column right
- Delete row / Delete column
4. Size the columns
Drag a column's edge (Resize column) to set its width. Columns you never touch size themselves to the content.
5. Add colour
Apply a background colour to a column, a row, or a single cell. Where they overlap, the most specific one wins — a cell colour beats a row colour, and a row colour beats a column colour.
For a quick, readable table without picking colours cell by cell, turn on Striped rows for alternating row tints.
6. Track status with a status column
Turn a column into a status column when the row-by-row thing you're tracking has a state — an action owner's progress, a deliverable's stage, a yes/no outcome. Every body cell in that column becomes a dropdown picker instead of a rich-text cell.
Make a status column. Right-click the column (or open its grip menu) and choose Make status column. Each cell below the header turns into a picker that offers the room's statuses, plus No status.
Choose which statuses the column offers. From the same menu, open Column statuses and tick the ones this column should show. Unticking a status removes it from this column's picker without touching any other column that uses it.
Edit the room's statuses. The Column statuses panel is also where you add a new status, rename an existing one, or change its colour between Gray, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. Statuses are shared across the whole table, so renaming one updates every column and cell that uses it.
Clear a cell. Open the picker and choose No status, or right-click the cell and choose Clear status.
Turn the column back into rich text. Column menu → Remove status column.
Deleting a status from the palette asks for confirmation first — it clears that status from every cell and status column in the table, including picks viewers have already made.
Letting Viewers Update Status
In a published room, every cell in a status column is a live picker: viewers can set or change its status directly on the page, and their pick becomes the status that shows on the table. Status cells are the only place in a comparison table that a viewer can edit — the rest of the cells stay authored content.
Reusing a Table Across Deal Rooms
Comparison tables are one of the section types you can save to the Section Library — worth doing for a standard pricing table or competitive matrix, so every rep works from the same numbers and you can push a correction to every room at once.
Open the section's menu and choose Save to library.
FAQs
Can I paste a table in from a spreadsheet? Build the grid with Add row / Add column and fill the cells. Paste content cell by cell rather than expecting a bulk paste to create the structure for you.
Can buyers edit the table? Viewers can update the status in any cell that sits inside a status column — those cells are live pickers in a published room. The rest of the table is authored content; for something both sides work on cell by cell, use a Mutual Action Plan.
How wide can a column be? Columns resize within a sensible range so the table stays readable on smaller screens. If a column won't drag any further, it's at the limit.
Do the colours carry over when I save the table to the library? Yes. Column widths, background colours, and the striped-rows setting are stored with the section.
Can I comment on a comparison table? Yes — Deal Room comments work on sections, including this one, as long as comments are enabled for the room.
Can I add a comparison table to a playlist? Yes — Choose Your Own Adventure playlists offer the same Comparison table section in their editor.
