Overview
Offline Playlists allow you to download an entire Walnut Playlist, including its demos and supported media, so you can present without relying on an internet connection.
This add-on feature extends Walnut’s existing Offline Demo capability to the playlist level. Instead of downloading demos individually, presenters can prepare a full demo journey ahead of time and confidently deliver it anywhere.
Offline Playlists are especially valuable for conferences, trade shows, field meetings, and customer environments where connectivity may be unreliable or restricted.
Offline Playlists are available as a paid add-on feature. If you would like to enable this capability for your workspace, please contact your Customer Success Manager or reach out to Walnut Support.
Download your full demo flow before the event so you can present smoothly even when WiFi is slow, unstable, or unavailable.
Present Confidently Anywhere
Great demo conversations do not always happen in perfect network conditions. Conferences, trade shows, and customer environments often have slow, overloaded, or restricted WiFi.
Offline Playlists let you download your full demo journey ahead of time so you can present with confidence, no matter where the conversation happens.
Instead of worrying about connectivity, you can focus on guiding prospects through the story, navigating between demos smoothly, and delivering a polished experience from start to finish.
Offline Playlists are especially helpful when presenting in environments such as:
- Conference booths where venue WiFi is overloaded
- Trade shows and events where network reliability is unpredictable
- Customer offices with strict security or firewall restrictions
- Travel and on-site meetings where internet access may not be available
- Live presentations where having a reliable backup demo flow is essential
How to Download a Playlist for Offline Use
Offline playlists can be downloaded from either:
- The Walnut Chrome Extension
- Your Walnut Library
1. Download an Offline Playlist from the Walnut Extension
To download an offline playlist from the extension:
- Open the Walnut Chrome Extension.
- Select the Play Demos tab.
- Locate the playlist you want to download.
- Hover over the playlist name and click the Make available offline icon.
- Once the download completes, a confirmation message will appear.
- Bookmark the playlist URL in your browser so you can easily launch it during presentations.
If changes are later made to the playlist in Walnut, remember that the offline version will not automatically update and must be re-downloaded.
2. Download an Offline Playlist from the Walnut Library
To download an offline playlist from your library:
- Open the Walnut Library and locate the playlist.
- Click the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the playlist thumbnail.
- Select Make available offline.
- Once the download completes, you will see a confirmation message.
- Bookmark the playlist URL in your browser for quick access during presentations.
What the Offline Experience Looks Like
Offline Playlists are designed to behave just like the online version.
When downloaded, supported assets are stored locally so presenters can navigate through the Playlist normally without connectivity.
The offline experience includes:
- Full Playlist navigation between items
- Interactive demos that function exactly as captured
- Smooth transitions between demos
- Media files stored in the Walnut Media Library
- Presenter navigation and interaction
The goal is to maintain a seamless demo experience even when the device is not connected to the internet.
Supported Asset Types
| Asset Type | Offline Support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Walnut Demos | Supported | Fully interactive and playable offline |
| Media Library Files | Supported | Images, PDFs, and videos stored in Walnut are available offline |
| External URLs | Limited | External links may not load without internet access |
| Embedded Content | Limited | Embeds that rely on external services may require internet access |
If a Playlist contains external links or embedded content that requires the internet, the system will display a warning before download so you can review the experience.
Sync and Versioning
Downloaded Playlists are frozen at the time they are downloaded.
- Offline versions do not automatically update
- If the online Playlist changes, the offline version remains unchanged
- Users can manually re-download the Playlist to access the latest version
This ensures that presenters always have a stable version of the demo flow when presenting offline.
Offline Analytics
Offline Playlist sessions are still tracked so engagement insights remain accurate.
While presenting offline:
- Interaction events are stored locally
- Once the device reconnects to the internet, events automatically sync
- Analytics are then sent to Walnut Insights and supporting analytics systems
This ensures that engagement data is preserved even when presentations occur offline.
Best Practices
- Download your Playlist before arriving at the event.
- Test the Playlist once in offline mode before presenting.
- Use media stored in the Walnut Media Library when possible.
- Avoid relying on external URLs for critical presentation content.
- Re-download the Playlist if updates are made before the event.
