When it comes to converting website visitors, interactive demos can be a powerful tool. They enable you to show your website visitors what your product is all about and generate high-quality leads—from the get-go.
With this in mind, let’s go over some tips to help you perfect your website product tours.
1. Focus on your product’s unique selling point 🧠
Skip generic parts like signing up, inviting colleagues, or anything else that is not unique to your product. Instead, show your product’s main flow in around 5-6 screens.
2. Keep it short & choose the right guide 💡
Choose a guided path that includes a maximum of 10 steps, so the experience won’t last longer than around 2 minutes. Determine whether it makes more sense for your product to include a textual guide with an avatar that explains things, or whether you just want to include a “hotspot” guide that simply indicates to visitors where they should click next.
3. Add context ✨
Use a “modal” guide type to add a welcome message as the first step and quickly explain the value the visitor can expect to gain from the product tour.
4. Include a clear call-to-action 📞
Consider your main CTA, whether it’s to “See more,” “Book a demo,” “Start now,” or something else that makes sense for your business. Add a floating button that will stay on the screen for the entire demo that links to your meeting calendar or directly to the product. You can also embed an existing HubSpot form directly in your demo to collect leads while intent is at its highest.
5. Set the screen’s display view 💻
Before publishing your demo, set its screen display as “Fit to screen” in the template’s settings so that your demo will look best for your viewers regardless of the size of the iframe it’s embedded in.
We recommend embedding interactive demos directly on your website, landing pages, blogs, and review sites like G2 and TrustRadius.
Fun fact: Since embedding the product tour on our homepage, it has delivered a 57% SQL conversion rate.
