Demo Types

There are two main types of Walnut Demo Experiences: Non Guided Demos and Guided Demos.

In a non-guided demo, users will navigate between screens by clicking on certain elements on the screen. As there are no main guides enabled, users can attempt to click around freely and choose their own demo adventure. If users click on a linked element, they will be rerouted to the next screen. If they do not land on a linked element, the screen will provide indicative cues that will lead them to click on the right element next. This option is suitable for live calls or self-guided demos, which essentially means that you, as a demo presenter, or the demo viewer, can navigate the demo by clicking on-screen elements that are linked.

Alternatively, in the guided demo format, users will navigate between screens by advancing through dedicated guide steps.

The main benefit is the ability to keep prospects focused on a certain path. You can ensure the viewer gets the key takeaways of your demo and is not distracted by less important or relevant aspects of your product. This option is suitable for product walkthroughs, tutorials, leave-behind materials, or any content where you want to instruct your buyers precisely what to do when you’re not there to guide them. Guides are overlays to your demos that direct your demo visitors to the next step you want them to take. Within Walnut there are three different types of guides: Modals, Tooltips, and Hotspots.

Screen Captures

Within Walnut, there are four different ways to capture a screen for your demo. 

• Single Capture: Capture your page as is 
• Timed Capture: Capture your screen with a custom timer 
• Update Screen: Replace an existing screen with a new capture 
• Continuous Capture: Automatically capture screens as you move through the page

Changing your capturing settings is done directly though the extension. 

Important to Note 📝

• When using guides in your demo, they will always dictate the flow. 
• In a guided demo, you can still use the linking feature to link elements together, even without a guide attached. However, if your demo has both guides and linked elements on the same screen, a demo visitor will experience the guide first.
• Both demo types begin as templates that are captured via the extension and then edited through the platform. 
• Both demo types go through the same flow for publishing and sharing.
