Adding Variables

Variables allow you to personalize demos without having to edit a template for each prospect. By defining images, text fields and dates as Variables you can create multiple personalized demos out of a single template. 

There are three different types of variables: 

Image and text variable

In this example we will follow the instructions for an Image Variable. You can follow the same process for text fields.

Select the image you’d like to set as a Variable. Then click the variable icon .

Give your variable a name, description and then upload the desired image. 

Once added, the page will update accordingly and the default value will be shown over the selected element. The lightning bolt will become pink to inform users that this image is using a variable. 

Now when other users edit the templates on other screens and want to use the same image, they will also have the variable available. 

Setting a new dynamic date variable

Dynamic date is a built-in variable that converts the dates in your demo to be relevant. With multiple formatting options, you can really customize the look and feel of the date, without having to constantly update the demo to constantly show relevant dates. 

Highlight the text field you'd like to turn into a dynamic date and click on the variable icon . Then select Dynamic Date.

In the modal, choose the date format you’d like to use. You can also apply relative modifiers to offset the date that will be shown in your Live Demo. Click Done to add the dynamic date.

Customizing the Variable On Demos

When creating a new demo, in the customizing tool, users will have the option to personalize with variables. 

As new demo links are created, a new variable can be set, replacing the existing version in the template. This personalization option will be launched automatically each time you create a demo from a template that includes Variables. 

Important to Note 📝

• To remove the variable, click on the element. Click on the edit icon to open the variable menu.
  
• There is no limit to the number of elements a variable can be applied to, or the number of a variables within a template.
• The same variable can be applied to different elements. 
• Changes you make to your template after creating a demo with a new variable will not impact published demos - unless specifically updated.
