Overview
Our integration with Salesforce allows you to integrate engagement data directly into your workflow. This will make it super easy and practical to enrich your sales process with these key insights and allow Account Executives to follow up with extremely precise info about their prospects’ intent. This will also help your team better manage their deals and stay on top of their opportunities by giving you all the demo-related information in one place.
For a more hands-on walkthrough, we (obviously) have an interactive demo for you!
Instructions
-
On the left side navigation click on Integrations, then click on Learn More under Salesforce.
-
Please note it’s also necessary that you have an available Salesforce user with access to the Sales Console. It’s important that the Salesforce user will have access to see all opportunities and write permissions.
-
Tap Configure to start the integration setup.
-
Start with Creating a new authentication - you can choose a name for your authentication (this will be used to manage the integration in Walnut) and choose between Sandbox or Production environments. The Sandbox environment will be available only if your company has a Salesforce sandbox, and the user used to authenticate the integration has access to it.
-
Approve the requested permissions.
-
That’s it, the integration has been set up.
-
To enable or disable the integration after the setup has been completed, toggle the on/off button.
-
Once you’ve enabled the integration, this will become available for all the Walnut users in your company, without any additional setup from their side. Now every user in your company that can create a demos will be able to connect the demo to a specific opportunity in Salesforce.

Only people with Admin permissions in Walnut can enable the Salesforce integration. It’s also necessary that you have an available Salesforce user with access to the Sales Console. It’s important that the Salesforce user will have access to see all opportunities and write permissions.
Can I connect a demo to any type of opportunity?
The opportunities you’ll be able to see are depending on the Salesforce user that will be used for the authentication. Any opportunity available for this user will also become available for you in Walnut.
Can I create a new opportunity via Walnut?
At the moment it is not possible to create new opportunities via Walnut.
I’d like to try it first. Do you offer a Sandbox environment?
If your company has a Salesforce Sandbox, make sure the user you are authenticating with has access to it. Walnut does not provide our own Sandbox. During the configuration process, the Walnut admin within your company can choose whether to set up Production or Sandbox. After testing the Sandbox environment, you’ll be able to easily switch to the Production environment by modifying the configuration.
How many API calls will you be making and for what purpose?
We will make API calls in 2 events. These calls will then be translated into forwarded API calls to Salesforce:
1. When we fetch the opportunity list to associate an opportunity with a demo
-
Check API usage
-
Fetch Opportunities
-
Fetch Accounts
-
Fetch Users
2. When we update the demo following user interaction
-
Check API usage
-
Send activity
-
Types of errors
-
We will notify you if your API is reaching 75% of the limit, as well as if the API access is disabled.
-
These checks occur via the check API usage call. If we don’t get a 200 response, or if the response contains a usage % 75 then we will return the error.
-
What type of data do we display through the integration?
The following data is being processed and displayed by Walnut, in order to track Walnut demo’s engagement in Salesforce - opportunity ID, opportunity name, opportunity stage, deal owner and account name, inserted at, and updated at.
Is there a third party in use?
Walnut is using a third party to enable the integration with Salesforce. Walnut may change and add new tools in the future. Contact us for more information.
