## Overview

The Template map is a bird's-eye view of a Template's structure. It draws every screen, guide step and demo handoff as a card on one board, with lines showing the links between them, so you can read the shape of a Template without opening screens one at a time.

The map opens from the storyline page as an alternative view to the sections list. Health counts for the Template — screens, links, broken links and screens nothing links to — sit in the header, and a legend by the zoom cluster explains every mark on the board.

## Arrange the board

Open the **View options** menu (the layers icon in the toolbar) and pick an arrangement under **ARRANGE**. Three arrangements are offered on the Screens view:

- **By section** — each section is a rectangle holding its screens, grouped in the Template's section order. This is the default.
- **In reading order** — same section rectangles, with each section's screens packed in the order a viewer sees them. Links are only drawn around the selected card, so adding a link never nudges the layout.
- **By path from the start screen** — screens are placed by how many links in they are from the Template's start screen, so the branching structure of the Template reads straight down the board.

**Tidy up** (the auto-layout button in the toolbar) puts every card and section back where the current arrangement places them. On the Guides view, it lays the board out in the picked guide's step order instead.

## Screens view and Guides view

The view switch at the start of the toolbar chooses what sits on top of the screens:

- **Screens** draws the authored links between screens.
- **Guides** draws the guide steps under the screens they play on, with the guide's own lines between them. Screens no guide plays on fade.

Both views share one layout — switching never moves or hides a screen. On the Guides view, a picker beside the switch narrows the board to a single guide (**All guides** shows every one).

## Show and hide layers

The **SHOW** section of the View options menu toggles the extra cards drawn on top of the screens:

- **Interaction states** — a screen's sub-states, on by default
- **Lead forms**
- **External links & demos** — pills for destinations outside the Template, including handoffs to other demos

Each row shows a count of how many cards that layer would add. A layer with none is not offered. Lead forms and external destinations are off by default.

## Find things on the board

- The **Search screens** field highlights screens whose names match and fades the rest; the board stays laid out so matches are read in context. The first match is panned into view.
- The **filter** button (next to the search field) isolates one health pile — **Broken links** or **Not linked** — fading everything outside it. Only one pile isolates at a time.
- Pressing a card selects it. The inspector panel in the top-left names the card, lists every link that **Leads in** and **Goes out** with the screen each one joins, and offers **Edit** to jump to that screen in the editor. Double-clicking a card opens it in the editor too.
- Pressing a line selects that line. Its label names the link's owner (the element or guide step) and the two screens it joins, and offers an open button to jump to the source in the editor.

## Focus on one screen

Opening Focus on a screen draws only that screen and the ones reachable from it within a chosen number of hops, with every link between them drawn as a single line. A control sets the hop distance. The map returns to the full board on **Escape** or by closing Focus; the arrangement, zoom and scroll position are preserved.

## Rearrange the board by hand

Drag a card to move it; drag a section's header band to move the whole section with every card in it. Cards snap back and nothing is written if the drag didn't travel.

Dragging a screen card over another section opens a drop zone on that section and shows **Move "screen name" into "section name"**. Releasing asks to confirm the move; a confirmation toast carries an **Undo** that puts the screen back where it was.

## Shared layouts

How you arrange a map is saved with the Template and shared with everyone who edits it. Two people opening the same map see the same board, and any card either of them drags is kept for the next person to open it.

Changes are saved per arrangement, so **By section**, **In reading order** and **By path** each keep their own layout — moving a card in one doesn't disturb another. The Guides view keeps a separate layout for each guide the board was organised by, for the same reason.

Two editors arranging different cards at the same time both keep their changes: each card is saved on its own, so a save for one card doesn't undo another. If a card is dropped back where the layout placed it, it stops being part of the arrangement. **Tidy up** clears the saved layout for the current arrangement, so every card goes back to where the layout places it.

### New screens

A screen added after the map was arranged lands in the computed place the current arrangement puts it in. If a teammate had dropped a card where the new screen would sit, that card is moved aside just far enough to clear it, and the move is saved so everyone sees the same board.

## Zoom and pan

The zoom cluster at the bottom-right of the canvas steps zoom from 25% up to 205%, with the board's opening zoom chosen to fit the whole Template in the window. Trackpad pinch and `Ctrl` + mouse wheel zoom too. Hold **Space** and drag to pan from anywhere on the board.

## Legend

The **Legend** button in the zoom cluster opens a key to every mark on the board — the solid, dashed and crossed line styles for links, autoplay edges and broken links, the colours for guides and interactions, the section and external pill shapes, and the ring styles for selected, linked and out-of-focus cards.
