## **Overview**

**AI Mode** lives inside the deal room editor. Ask it for a small change ("update the header logo and styling") and it applies the change right away. Hand it a goal — "build a complete, multi-page deal room: welcome, why-us, product & demos, security, pricing, and a mutual action plan" — and it proposes a plan, then builds the whole room while you watch it happen on the canvas.

Everything AI Mode does goes through the normal editor and save path, so nothing is hidden: you see each change land, and you can keep it or undo it.

### **Snapshot 📸**

**Feature Status:** Generally available · consumes AI credits
**Role Access:** Anyone who can edit the deal room
**Location:** Deal room editor → **AI Mode** in the top command bar

:::note
AI Mode only appears once your company has accepted the AI terms in **Company Settings → AI**. If the button is missing, that opt-in is the first thing to check.

## **Open AI Mode**

1. Open a deal room in the editor.
2. Click **AI Mode** in the top command bar.
3. The panel opens docked to the left of the canvas.

The panel has three states:

- **Docked** — a card pinned beside the canvas.
- **Floating** — drag the panel header (or click **Pop out**) to tear it off into a movable, resizable window. Click **Dock to left** to put it back.
- **Closed** — click **✕**. The **AI Mode** button reopens it.

Your choice is remembered, and the floating window keeps its position and size.

---

## **Two ways to work**

The panel has no Ask/Agent switch — AI Mode reads your prompt and picks the right mode.

### **Quick asks**

Small, well-scoped requests apply immediately:

- "Generate a mutual action plan for this deal"
- "Update the header logo and styling"
- "Rewrite the welcome copy for a security-conscious buyer"

### **Agent runs**

Bigger goals — building a room from scratch, or overhauling one — become an **agent run**. AI Mode first shows a **plan card**: a short summary plus the concrete changes it intends to make, each tagged *added*, *edited*, or *styled*. You choose:

| Choice | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **Run as agent** | AI Mode executes the whole plan on its own. |
| **Step by step** | It walks the plan one change at a time. |
| **Refine** | Type what should change. AI Mode re-proposes an updated plan instead of executing. |

Once you approve, the card stays in the conversation with a **Plan approved** chip, so you can always scroll back to what was agreed.

## **What AI Mode can do in a deal room**

**Pages and structure**
- Add, rename, reorder, hide, and remove pages — and move a section from one page to another.
- Add, remove, reorder, and move content sections on any page — gallery, carousel, text, banner, embedded, and side-by-side embedded.
- Clear empty sections, or reset the room to a blank canvas before a from-scratch build.
- Write and rewrite section titles and body copy.

**Mutual action plan**
- **Generate** a full plan — stages and tasks — for the deal.
- **Edit** an existing plan incrementally: add, remove, rename, and reorder stages and tasks without regenerating the whole thing.

See [Mutual action plan](/help/deal-rooms/mutual-action-plan) for what the plan does for your buyer.

**Deal context**
- AI Mode can pull read-only account and opportunity context from the deal room's connected CRM (**Salesforce** or **HubSpot**) so the copy, demos, and plan reflect the real deal. If a name matches more than one record, it asks you which one — it never picks for you.

**Pull in your content**
- Search your company's demo library by name, description, tags, folder, owner, or AI summary — and add the best matches to a gallery.
- Search the Resource Hub and add images, videos, and PDFs.
- Add a video by URL (YouTube, Vimeo, or a Walnut-hosted video).
- Set a thumbnail on any content item.

**Branding and styling**
- Set the room name, banner title, and logo — including the banner on a specific page.
- Apply your brand colors, or infer them from a website — give AI Mode the buyer's URL and it reads their palette so the room can carry both logos.
- Set section backgrounds, including background images.

**Grounding**
- **Web search** — find real facts about the account, their competitors, or their market to ground the copy.
- **Learn from a URL** — paste a link and AI Mode reads the page for this conversation only. It does not change your account's saved AI context; that is set explicitly in the AI settings.
- **Knowledge base** — AI Mode can look up Walnut help articles when it needs product detail.
- **Generate an image** from a description when nothing in the Resource Hub fits.

**Self-review**
- At the end of a full build, AI Mode reviews the room against a curated deal room of the same layout — section completeness, whether a mutual action plan is present, brand fit, copy quality, and redundancy — and fixes the gaps it finds before handing it back.

---

## **Keep or undo**

When a run finishes, AI Mode posts a **result card**:

- A **N changes** row — expand it to see every individual change, jump to it on the canvas, or revert just that one.
- **Keep** — finalize the run. The card stays in the thread with a **Done** pill.
- **Undo** — revert that run's edits in one click. Other runs in the same conversation are untouched.

Undo is blocked only when a later change overlaps the same content — AI Mode tells you rather than silently reverting something you meant to keep.

---

## **Steering a run**

- **Keep typing** while the agent works. Mid-run prompts feed into the current run.
- **Stop** — the stop button sits next to send while a run is in progress.
- **Attach** a file — images, video, PDFs, Office documents, and audio — to give AI Mode something concrete to work from.
- **Questions and confirmations** — AI Mode asks rather than guesses. Clarifying questions come with suggested answers you can click, and anything destructive asks for a yes/no confirmation first.
- **To finish, please add** — if a run needs something only you have (a signed security doc, a pricing sheet, a customer logo), AI Mode leaves a checklist of asks instead of inventing a placeholder.

---

## **Conversations and credits**

- **Previous chats** (clock icon) — reopen an earlier conversation on this deal room.
- **New chat** (**+**) — start fresh. Threads are named automatically.
- The credit chip in the panel header shows your remaining AI credits. Usage is metered as **Deal rooms** in the [AI Control Center](/help/account/ai-control-center).

---

## **Good to know**

- The **header and footer are locked** structural sections. AI Mode can change the banner's title and logo, but it cannot add or remove those sections.
- **Changing the layout replaces the existing sections and content** with that layout's defaults. AI Mode confirms before doing it.
- Videos must be YouTube, Vimeo, or Walnut-hosted URLs. YouTube Shorts links are refused.
- CRM context is **read-only** — AI Mode reads the opportunity, it never writes back to your CRM.
- AI Mode edits the deal room you have open. It does not publish or share it — that stays your call.

## **FAQs**

**Do I have to approve a plan every time?**
No. Only from-scratch builds and overhauls get a plan card. Small asks just apply, and you keep or undo them.

**Can I stop a run halfway through?**
Yes. Press stop. Everything already applied stays on the canvas, and the result card still offers **Undo**.

**Can AI Mode build the mutual action plan on its own?**
Yes — ask for one and it generates the full stages and tasks. On a full build it adds one by default, because a deal room without a plan is one of the gaps its own review flags.

**Does it work on a room that already has content?**
Yes — that is the common case. On a populated room AI Mode leads with personalization asks ("personalize this for a specific customer") rather than blank-slate builds.

**Does AI Mode learn from what I type?**
Not automatically. A URL you paste grounds that conversation only. Account-level AI context is set deliberately in your AI settings.
