It replaces having AI settings scattered across the editor, playlists, and player: one nav item, three tabs, one source of truth for what your team is allowed to do with AI and how much of it they're using. ### **Snapshot 📸** **Feature Status:** Workspace-level admin area. **Role Access:** **View and change settings, view usage:** Admin **Buy credits:** Admin (billing role) **Location:** Left navigation → **AI**. --- ## **What's Inside** The AI Control Center opens with three tabs: - **Settings** — Turn individual AI features on or off for the workspace: AI Mode in the editor, Improve with AI on annotations, Compose with AI on guides and presenter notes, the buyer agent on demos, AI translations, and any newer AI capabilities. Each row explains what the feature does and what turning it off costs. - **Usage** — A per-feature and per-user breakdown of AI credits consumed in the current billing period. Sort by feature to see where your team is leaning hardest, or by user to spot power users. - **Buy credits** — Top up when the workspace is running low, or increase the monthly allowance. --- ## **How AI Credits Work** Every AI action in Walnut — an AI Mode prompt, an Improve with AI rewrite, a Compose with AI generation, a buyer-agent conversation turn, a translated screen — draws from a shared workspace **credit balance**. The Usage tab shows the running total. **Fair-use and enforcement.** When enforcement is on, an action that would take the balance below zero is blocked with a clear message that tells the user which feature and how many credits are involved, and points admins at the Buy credits tab. Without enforcement, the meter still runs and shows on the Usage tab — you just don't hit a hard stop. **One meter across every feature.** Because every AI feature debits the same balance, a spike in one feature is visible in the same view as a spike in another. You don't have to reconcile separate quotas per feature. --- ## **Governing AI in Your Workspace** Use the Settings tab as an on-off switch for anything you don't want your team using: - **Turn off individual features** you don't want available (for example, disable the buyer agent while you're piloting it with a subset of demos). - **Turn off writing features** during a security or compliance review, keeping read-only AI (like summaries) enabled. - **Turn everything off** for a workspace that doesn't want AI in the product at all. Settings changes take effect for every user in the workspace on their next AI action — no re-login required. --- ## **Reading the Usage Tab** - **By feature** — Which AI capabilities are your team actually using? Heavy Compose with AI usage tells you sellers are writing a lot of guides; heavy buyer-agent usage tells you buyers are talking to your demos. - **By user** — Who's leaning on AI hardest? Useful for finding internal champions and for spotting anomalous spikes. - **By day** — Trends over the billing period so you can predict whether you'll finish under or over the allowance. Usage numbers update in near real time. --- ## **Buying More Credits** Open the **Buy credits** tab. Pick a credit pack, confirm with your billing contact, and the credits land on the workspace balance immediately. If your workspace is on an annual plan, you can also raise the monthly baseline instead of topping up ad-hoc — contact your Walnut Customer Success Manager. --- ## **FAQs** **Do individual users have their own credit balance?** No. Credits are pooled at the workspace level, so a team can share the balance the way it shares any other resource. **What happens when the workspace runs out of credits?** If enforcement is on, further AI actions are blocked until admins top up. Without enforcement, actions still run and the balance goes negative on the Usage tab — a useful signal for a plan-size conversation with your Customer Success Manager. **Does turning off a feature in Settings hide it from users?** Yes — the entry points for that feature disappear from the editor, playlist editor, and player for everyone in the workspace. **Do AI actions cost the same across features?** Different features consume different amounts of credit depending on the underlying work (a one-line rewrite is cheaper than a full guide generation).
